Matthew is an accomplished educator and program leader with over 20 years of experience designing high-performance learning environments, mentorship systems, and development-focused programs. As Co-Founder and Academy Director of Pacific Edge Basketball Academy, he brings an educator’s mindset to athlete development—building structured, progressive training systems that emphasize skill mastery, confidence, and long-term growth.

With a Master of Education in Digital Technologies and a background in curriculum development and applied research, Matthew applies a disciplined, evidence-based approach to basketball programming. He is passionate about creating inclusive, supportive environments and is committed to helping athletes grow both on and off the court through intentional training, clear development pathways, and thoughtful leadership.

Head Coach of Player Development
Jim is the Head Coach and Co-Founder of the academy, bringing over 35 years of experience coaching athletes from grassroots programs to elite competitive levels. A former varsity and university athlete, Jim earned scholarship offers in multiple sports and competed as a professional prospect—experience that directly informs how he prepares athletes for high-performance environments. A certified coach and elite trainer, Jim holds accreditation across eight fitness disciplines. His training approach blends advanced basketball skill development with strength and conditioning, movement efficiency, and injury-aware programming.
He has coached athletes across multiple sports and age groups, from elementary school teams through college and university competition. Jim sets high standards and demands commitment, accountability, and focus, while fostering confidence and leadership in every athlete he works with. His programs are designed to challenge athletes both physically and mentally, developing the habits, resilience, and mindset required to excel in competitive sport—and beyond.
Stephanie G
Certified Nutritional Practitioner
Stephanie is a certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner with a strong focus on sports nutrition, youth development, and whole-body health. As Director of Performance Nutrition at Pacific Edge Basketball Academy, she works closely with athletes and families to support performance, recovery, energy, and long-term health—both on and off the court.

Using a practical, evidence-informed approach, Stephanie helps athletes understand how nutrition affects strength, focus, confidence, and consistency in training. She is passionate about education and empowerment, emphasizing sustainable habits, fueling for growth, injury prevention, and overall well-being—ensuring nutrition is a core pillar of every Pacific Edge athlete’s development.
Dragana H
Performance Athletic Development Coach
Dragana is a personal trainer and long-time fitness coach specializing in strength, conditioning, and athletic performance. With years of experience leading spin, group fitness, and boxing-based training, she has helped hundreds of clients improve endurance, power, and overall athleticism. As a former competitive squash athlete, Dragana understands firsthand the discipline, resilience, and work ethic required to excel in sport.
She brings strong leadership and team-building skills to her coaching and is especially passionate about working with youth, creating positive, supportive environments where young athletes feel confident, motivated, and connected. At Pacific Edge Basketball Academy, she leads performance and conditioning programs designed to help athletes move better, play stronger, and stay injury-free while building confidence, character, and a lifelong love of sport.

Basketball Development Coach
Jason has been around the game of basketball for over 35 years, with playing experience at Spectrum High School, Camosun College, and the University of Victoria, competing at both provincial and national levels. Now focused on coaching, Jason brings a strong commitment to teaching fundamentals, clear communication, and building confidence in young athletes. Working alongside Jim, he helps create a positive, competitive, and fun environment where players are supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow—both on and off the court—while developing a lifelong love for the game.

Matt is in his first year of coaching basketball and currently assists with the U11 Girls Division A team. He played high school basketball in Alberta and brings a strong commitment to youth development, positive team culture, and supporting girls in sport.​ Matt focuses on building strong fundamentals, confidence, and a supportive learning environment where athletes feel encouraged to try, improve, and enjoy the game. He values effort, communication, and teamwork, helping players grow both on and off the court.
